OUTSTANDING - VINTAGE C1940'S - SHAWNEE # 534 - ART POTTERY GIRL WITH BASKET PLANTER - RARE PIECE WITH HANDPAINTED GOLD ACCENTS - IN EXCELLANT PLUS CONDITION. This 6" high by 4 3/4" wide by 3 1/4 " deep planter depicts a girl with a broad rim bonnet holding a flower next to a basket. The girl's hair and shoes are Handpainted in yellow..Her dress is handpainted in green...And the basket is handpainted in brown. What makes this piece RARE is that most of these Shawnee Girl With Basket Planters DO NOT have any Handpainted Gold Accents as this piece does. There are gold accents [ my photo does not show them well ] on the brim of her hat, on the petals of a flower that is on the back of her hat, on the neckline of her dress, on the leaves of the flower she is holding, on the sleeves and edge of her dress, and on the tops of her shoes. ALL THIS EXTRA HANDPAINTED GOLD MAKES THIS SHAWNEE PLANTER RARE!!! This planter is in EXCELLANT PLUS CONDITION, with NO chips, NO cracks, NO stains, NO crazing and NO scratches.The gold accents are all PERFECT except for a VERY SLIGHT wear of the gold on the very edge of the brim of her hat, no doubt caused from 60 YEARS of cleaning.
