I came across this piece in a small shop in the mountains of southwest Virginia several years ago and have yet to see anything else like it. Signed “RumRill†and “K16†on the base, it has a classic Redwing Pottery glaze- soft green apple with airbrushed, blended and dripped brown (NOTE- the color in photo #3 is not accurate). The white clay slip dates it to the 1930’s, and with the sole exception of a small chip under the base (see base photo- lower right) it is in absolutely perfect condition! It stands 8.5†height with a 4.5†d. mouth and 6†d. base. This beautiful and unusual piece is truly a rare, perhaps even one-of-a-kind, find and would make a wonderful addition to any Art Pottery collection. In fact, I’m only willing to part with it because I recently moved to a new home and now have nowhere to display it. As much as I dislike setting reserve prices, I have set a fair reserve on this item in order to protect my investment. Shipping is via Priority Mail; insurance costs extra.
