NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN POTTERY JEMEZ PUEBLO MELON SWIRL SEED POT SIGNED BY: MARCELLA YEPA This beautiful melon swirl seed pot was signed by well known Native American Indian artist, Marcella Yepa. The pottery measures approximately 1.75" height at the largest point around x about 2" width. The vase is about 1" diameter at the base. There is a 1" opening at the top. This melon style artwork features alternating red clay and buff polished ribs that swirl around the bowl. The Jemez Pueblo pottery is impressive Native American artwork with a beautiful stone polish and smooth texture. Marcella stone polishes her redware and tanware pottery and gathers natural clay from the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico. She hand coils and sculpts her forms and fires her pottery outdoors with cedar chips. This is an elegant piece of artwork without any chips or cracks. The skilled Jemez Pueblo artist has been creating since 1976. Marcella Yepa is the daughter of Dorene and Salvador Yepa. The artist was taught by her Grandmother, Felipita Yepa and by Alvina Yepa. The artist's work has been displayed at the Santo Domingo Arts & Craft Show and at Galleries such as Andrew Pueblo Pottery, Nizhoni, Kennedy Indian Arts, Bluff UT.
